Testing Waterlines
With permanent ballast and motor ballast, the boat sits level on the design lines. Back to Start of Model
Camera and Water Cooling mechanism perfected
One switch to activate the GPS Camera, and turn on the water cooling pump. Version 1 with lots of wire, proved problematic.
Version 2 works far better
Builders launch Day
Finally, not raining. Went to the canal to launch the boat. I didn’t have anyone to photograph the boat, just as well. I spent a fair bit of time adjusting the steering, and then I found that the prop on the motor was just cavitating too badly to be very effective.
However, the onboard GPS camera worked perfectly. With the poor old motor working overtime, and the prop sending up lots of splashing, the model had no trouble make 5.4 kph ( about 3.1 mph ), and didn’t even look like raising the bow once .
I have bought a new prop for testing. I will also disconnect the water cooling pump, as it seemed to drain the battery very quickly for the next trial..
