28 Foot Trailer Sailer (Hybrid Water Craft and Micro Living Environment)
The design goals
The Design Goals
Its design purpose is to incorporate all the characteristics of other successful designs listed here in other similar designs, but with the following additional benefits.
1) An Interior Nav Station, so that it can be 'driven' from inside during inclement weather.
2) 2 foot of extra length for extra room for hull access from the water and motor access from the boat hull..
3) Self Build-able by independent boat builders from using Stitch and Glue Plywood and Epoxy
4) Fresh water bladders in the salt water ballast tanks to provide fresh water ballast for drinking and washing on long cruises.
5) Self tacking sail plan to ease of operation
The Hybrid Water Craft concept provides for a really useful yacht, power boat and transportable micro-shelter. Designed to provide the maximum room for weather protection, on the water or on land. Able to function as a small spare bedroom in a domestic environment, a long range mobile living machine and a capable watercraft.
Details of Personal Design Preferences for the concept, which can be changed by other builders.
Version 1
The initial Hull Design, concentrating on power performance
This version was shelved in order to increase sailing performance.
